Irvine-based Green Home Systems has secured a £1.2 million contract to install energy efficiency measures in fuel poor households in Scotland.
The energy efficiency specialist has been appointed by national energy supplier, Ovo, to deliver insulation and heating measures to families who are living in fuel poverty and who qualify to receive grant funded energy efficiency upgrades.
The project will run for three months and is part of the ECO4 (Energy Company Obligation) programme, a UK wide energy efficiency policy that aims to tackle fuel poverty and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in privately owned and rented homes.
The types of measures that will be installed include roof, wall and floor insulation alongside air-source heat pumps and solar panels.
Once installed, these measures will drastically reduce the amount of energy required to adequately heat the homes, and lower the occupants’ utility bills and carbon footprint.
All the work is being carried out to government-recognised PAS2035 and Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) quality assurance standards.
Green Home Systems was established in 2014 and has completed over 16,500 energy efficiency projects which has lifted more than 5,000 families out of fuel poverty.
